Penrhiwceiber Poets Corner

October 17, 2008

Penrhiwceiber is a village full of poets – and they know it!

To celebrate National Poetry Day a host of elderly friends gathered at the newly refurbished local library to read their favourite poems to each other.

Every three weeks a group of disabled and older people visit Penrhiwceiber Library to choose their books thanks to a special transport service funded by Rhondda Cynon Taf Council’s Libraries Service.

But this week they had an extra treat when service manager Catherine Langdon and Penrhiwceiber Branch Librarian Helen Fryer served tea and cakes while the visitors selected their favourite poems.

The Transport to Library Service is open to anyone who is semi-housebound and no longer able to get to a branch or mobile library and lives within the catchment area of Penrhiwceiber, Aberdare, Ton Pentre, Treherbert, Tylorstown and Penygraig libraries.

A simple assessment process for all applicants will determine whether this service is the most suitable. For further details please contact Catherine Langdon on 01685 880061
