Get Set for Nos Galan Races

December 8, 2008

Runners of all ages have already signed up to take part in the Nos Galan Races on New Year’s Eve in Mountain Ash – and organisers are hoping many more will register for the event in the coming weeks.

The Races held annually in December 31 honour legendary runner Guto Nyth Bran and follow a 5km route around the town, with competitions for elite runners and also adults, boys and girls categories.

Organisers are hoping to attract 1,000 runners this year from across Rhondda Cynon Taf and further afield, and there will be a £1,000 prize pot. Already, 417 runners have registered for the races, including 24 elite athletes, 275 in the adult races and 118 children

There is still plenty of time to get your name down. If you would like to take part on December 31, go to the Nos Galan website http://www.nosgalan.co.uk/ to download an application form or call Rhondda Cynon Taf Events team on 01443 490200. Application forms are also available at the Council’s One4All centres and most sports centres.
